Last weekend and the beginning of this week was well over 90 degrees in the southLAnd. Summer is here people! And summer, to me, means color...and lots of it. When I saw this ASOS striped dress I feel in love and thought I would look amazing dressed down with simple sandals and colorful accessories. I think I was right...

Day in the Life
I have seen a lot of these "day in the life posts" rolling around the interwebs so I thought I would give you the some insight into the fabulous and glamorous life of a teacher.
6:00am - Wake up (ok..snooze until 6:10 and then wake up).
6:10-6:45am - (or 7 depening on how slow I am moving that morning): check blogs/the news/facebook/instagram, make coffee, spend time staring at my closet and eventually get dressed, realize I am late and throw on some make up and a top knot and run out the door with breakfast in hand. It usually looks like this...
7:10ish - get to school and check email, make copies, talk to other teachers, make kiddos do work for me (cut things out, grade, hang up posters)
8:00am-3:15pm - teachin' kids. Sometimes I also torture them...
Depending on the day I may have meetings after school or tutoring...sometimes until as late as 6:00 or 6:30. If not, I try to get home to run errands, do laundry, clean the house, and/or watch TV. With lovely Los Angeles traffic it takes me at least a 1/2 hour to get home. I usually use that time to catch up with friends via (hands free of course) telephone calls.
6:30pm - The boy gets home and we either go to the gym or I meet friends for dinner or a drink or a hike or sometimes all of the above.

8:00pm - If we go to the gym we usually don't eat dinner until late. After dinner we usually watch a little TV, read, shower, blog, and gchat with friends. I try to go to bed at a reasonable hour, but lately I haven't been going to bed until past 11:00pm...WAY past my bed time.

Scenes from the Desert
Nothing like an impromptu trip to Palm Springs for palm trees, sun, mountains, and drinks to get the 'ole spirit feeling refreshed and new. #desertlife #gossip

It's the Freakin' Weekend
Basically, my weekend uniform is a t-shirt, colored jeans, sandals, sunglasses, and large tote for any and all shopping finds from anywhere from the farmer's market to a corner boutique. If you see someone dressed like this over the weekend...wave...it's probably me.

Long Hair, Don't Care
I have long hair. Like really long hair...like when it's straight it's to my ass long. Which is amazing! And cute! And fun! And sexy!
...except when you are working out.
When you are working out long hair is sticky, and sweaty, and basically a damp blanket on your shoulders, neck, and back. Vom.
I have been all up on my pinterest looking for workout hairstyle that is superior to my current "2 elastics and a rat's nest" that is my go-to at the moment. Here's what I have found so far...
...too bad I have never looked that good at the gym...EVER.

Last Picture Show
We had been proudly living just blocks from what could only have been the last Blockbuster Video in America. Unfortunately, time and netflix has finally gotten it's death grip around that establishment as well and I noticed a "Going Out of Business" sign out front the other day.
The boy and I decided to go and scout some discounts there Saturday morning. Entering, I had a wave of nostalgia. Memories of begging my best friend's Amanda's dad to take us to the movie store and roaming up and down the aisles searching for the "right" movie for the night. Of flirting with the high school boys behind the counter to get free rentals. Of the time Amanda's little sister accidentally went into the adult section while we were watching here.
The movies weren't on deep enough discounts for any purchases (but listen up, DVD of the Skulls with Paul Walker...when you fall under $5 I'm coming for you), but we did walk out with a nice new friend...
